The KTO logo will be forever eternalized on the commemorative shirt of the Santa Cruz football club, with thanks to the team’s first state victory in the Ibsen Pinheiro Cup.
Focused on its strategy to promote the regional sport, KTO supported Santa Cruz to reach the tournament finals of the Isben Pinheiro Cup. After the team’s incredible victory in the finals, they can now look forward to playing in the Copa do Brasil, a highly regarded national competition.
A final determined by two games, Santa Cruz won the first match with a comfortable 3 – 1 victory. However, this result was matched by the contenders São José who came back stronger in the second leg, leading to an intense penalty shootout to determine who would be crowned the winner.
In a final filled with exciting moments, Santa Cruz went on to win the penalty shootouts, defeating São José in a close 4 – 3 result. Santa Cruz got to lift the cup trophy for the first time in history with consolidations to São José who proved to be worthy opponents.
Along with pride and joy in the victory, Santa Cruz will also receive around R$500, 000 from CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) for participating in the Copa do Brasil.
Interesting Facts
The club president has a very peculiar history. Tiago Rech gained national fame in 2012 when he was “caught” by TV cameras during a match against Grêmio – one of the biggest channels in the country. Rech went viral on social media as a “lone fan” – the only one in favor of Santa Cruz among hundreds of fans of the capital’s team. Two years later, the dedicated fan became president of his beloved club and now celebrates this important achievement.
